Saudi Arabian GP 2022

Saudi Arabian GP 2022

After an amazing Ferrari show in the opening race of the new era, the next GP is held in Saudi Arabia. A circuit that produced a great show and lots of controversy in 2021. This time the dynamics have changed with Mercedes and Lewis trying to get on top of their new car issues. In contrast, the Ferraris seem to have interpreted the new regulations pretty well and have possibly delivered a championship-worthy car. Still, it is very early days and we should be expecting heavy development from all teams as the season progresses. I’m not ruling anything out for the moment.

The model has been affected by the recent performance by Leclerc but it is downplaying Red Bull’s chances after what happened a few days ago. Still, I feel that Max could deliver his first pole position of the season. It’ll also be interesting to watch if Haas can get another solid points finish and whether the McLarens can unlock any potential out of their car.

Ricciardo was given a 3-place grid penalty for impeding Ocon.

As always, you can access the power predictions here.

    1. Hmm this is most possibly affected by the last season results where Bottas was still driving for Merc.

    1. The current cars affect the model through many features. More directly, the predictions for each driver are affected based on the place of each car in the constructor’s championship (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc).
Of course, such features need a few races before they can capture the true performance of the cars for each season.
