Belgian GP 2022

Max Verstappen kept extending his lead over Leclerc to 80 points after a great race in Hungary which saw him starting in P10 and taking the victory. Ferrari once more found a way to lose this race from their own hands thanks to a disastrous strategy call. Somehow, both Mercedes’ made it into the podium with Lewis getting closer and closer to his first 2022 race win. After a 3-week summer break, teams and drivers return to the legendary Spa Francorchamps circuit. Last year’s race was ended on lap 3 due to extreme rain and the drivers were given half points. Michael Masi again favoured the commercial interests which led to Max being given 12.5 points for never racing! Put this into perspective when discussing about 2021 driver’s championship…

Reasonably, Max is predicted to take the pole and the race win. I think this reflects the recent F1 reality pretty well. I’ll be waiting to see if the Ferraris can bounce back and whether Lewis or Russell can do their magic on a track they both like.

Verstappen, Leclerc, Ocon, Norris, Zhou, Schumacher and Bottas have all received grid penalties and will start at the back of the grid.
