British GP 2021
Another commanding win from Red Bull and Max Verstappen, another step towards the world championship. This time, F1 is heading to Silverstone, UK with a new race format. Firstly, the qualifying session will be held on Friday, not on Saturday as usual. Secondly, on Saturday, the drivers will compete in a 100 km sprint race (17 laps of Silverstone) starting with their qualifying positions. No pit stops are necessary and the first three drivers will receive 3, 2 and 1 championship points respectively. Lastly, on Sunday, the normal 305+ km race will be held with the drivers starting from the position they finished in the sprint race. F1 is hoping to spice up the spectacle and bring some action in all three days.
It’s the first time we see the sprint race format so the models of F1-predictor will be predicting the (Friday) qualifying and the Sunday race results. Although Red Bull is on fire, I would predict that Mercedes and Lewis will try to take a win in his home country and re-ignite the interest for both championships. The McLarens are also expected to be fast while the time will be running out for Bottas despite his decent performance two weeks ago.
