Italian GP 2022
Max has now won 10 out of the 15 races this season and has seen the chequered flag first in the last 4 races. With both championships virtually decided, it remains to be seen which driver and team will finish 2nd. In 2021, the Italian GP was marked by the collision of Lewis and Max with McLaren finishing a surprising one-two and Ricciardo taking an unexpected win. Can we watch something similar this year? I doubt Daniel can win again given his recent form and the fact that he is ousted by McLaren with Oscar Piastri taking his race seat next season, but we might see some other surprise (hint: Alonso).
It is hard to predict anyone else than Max winning here. Still, I hope that the boost from the tifosi will help either Leclerc or Sainz take the victory in front of the team’s home crowd. The Mercedes’ were the fastest on race pace in Zandvoort (yes, ahead of both Red Bulls) but Monza is a track with different characteristics, so let’s see how the low-drag, special-purpose packages the teams will bring in Italy will perform come race day.
