Monaco GP 2021
After an 1-year break from F1 due to the pandemic, Monaco is returning to the calendar. Although it’s still early days in the championship, we are watching possibly the biggest head-to-head battle in the recent years. Of course, we had Lewis Hamilton vs. Nico Rosberg back in 2016 but this time the reigning world champion is against Max Verstappen from Red Bull. It’s always different to watch drivers from different teams fighting for the top spot of the podium compared to watching teammates where the same team mentality may play a role in the final outcome of a race. Apart from this battle, the news is that Lando Norris has extended his contract with McLaren and will be with the team until at least the end of 2023. That’s always a great recognition for the driver that sits fourth in the drivers’ standings.
Although the model predicts that Mercedes will lock the front row of the grid, I think it’s the Red Bulls that will start 1st and 2nd in Monaco. I would also dare to predict that Perez will take a surprise victory if he has a good qualifying session. Behind those four, Leclerc – a native Monegasque – will fight for every point available and I think the Ferraris can finish ahead the McLarens in this race. You can access the power predictions here.
