Austria hosted the two season-opening races last year and Mercedes were able to win both GPs – Bottas the first, Hamilton the second one. This time around, they’d better repeat this feat if they want to keep in touch with Verstappen and Red Bull in both world championships. We should also keep an eye on Bottas’ form as well as on whether the McLarens and the Ferraris will be able to score good points in their close fight as the best-of-the-rest constructor.
Given the last few races, the model is predicting Max to qualify first and win the race with Lewis coming home second. I would dare to predict that Lewis and Valtteri can pull off and one-two for Mercedes and close the gap to the Red Bulls. Regarding the McLaren-Ferrari battle, past results suggest that the former team will leave Austria with more points in their bags, especially if Ricciardo can match Norris’ pace throughout the weekend.
