French GP 2021
The last Grand Prix in Baku was as unpredictable as it can get with Perez taking the victory and Vettel and Gasly filling up the podium. Verstappen retired while Hamilton ended up finishing 15th after a rare mistake by the champ. Both title contenders will try to bounce back and make the most out the upcoming race. The circuit Paul Ricard did not host a race last year due to the pandemic but returns this time. In 2019, the circuit seemed to suit Mercedes’ cars (which circuit didn’t?) with Lewis and Valtteri finishing 1-2 and Max a distant 4th. Will this change this time?
The model predicts Verstappen will win and Hamilton will come home second although they may not necessarily start in this order. As we are getting closer to the mid-season, I expect both drivers will give all they have but their teammates must also support their teams for the constructors championship. Sergio Perez is acclimatizing really well in Red Bull while Bottas has a disastrous season so far. Can Russell replace Bottas before the season ends?
