Turkish GP 2021

In dramatic fashion, Lando Norris missed his first-ever Formula 1 victory in Sochi two weeks ago. Hamilton snatched the opportunity and got ahead in the drivers standings while Verstappen finished 2nd starting from the back of the grid. This weekend, F1 heads to Istanbul – a circuit I was lucky to visit back in 2005 – a place that held an amazing race last year due to wild weather conditions. This time around, finishing out of points is not an option for any of the title contenders if they want to have realistic chances to the trophy.

The model gives Lewis a slight edge over Max in both qualifying and the race (about 53%-47%). However, Verstappen will be hungry as ever for the win and I believe he will take the victory here. It will be important to see what role the 2nd drivers of Mercedes and Red Bull play in the constructors championship. Both Bottas and Perez have lots to prove and need to deliver for their teams. Further back, Norris will soon taste the winner’s champagne while the Ferraris need to up their game to combat the McLarens in the next 7 races.
